The 4-H kids loved the rods and reels and the tackle boxes! The equipment caught several spadefish, mangrove snappers, and even a couple of juvenile goliath groupers. The two-day program was quite successful and the donation of the fishing equipment from Fish Florida made it possible. During the two days, the children learned to tie three different knots, learned appropriate casting techniques, had a wading trip of the Harbor to understand the importance of the estuary and it’s relationship to fishing, had a lively discussion on some fishing ethics, and above all caught fish. Please express to your board my sincere appreciation for the equipment. This is a fabulous program and one that I hope Charlotte County and CCA will be able to participate in again.”
